A force applied to a body at rest or in motion causes it to accelerate in the same direction of the force applied or act in the direction of the force applied. So the second law affects our action especially in cars because the body at rest or in motion is in a body of motion (the car) so therefore when the breaks are applied a force is exerted on the car which affects the body at the rest in it and causes it to move in direction in which the car is moving.
