Petrology is the branch of geology that studies rocks and the conditions under which they form. Petrology has three subdivisions: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology.It is also the branch of science concerned with the origin, structure, and composition of rocks. Some importance of petrology are listed below:
